    Was i correct in my reasoning with my numbers for the magnitute of torque eg is it the distance from the U joint to the motor and also the angle from the U joint to the motor? Or is it the distance from the motor to the platform im lifting, and the angle of the lever from the motor to the platform im lifting?

    If you are working it out for the motor/lever capability itself then the motor is the pivot and the connecting point on the lever for the rod is the radius distance.
