    Leandro,

The cables are very easy to make. You can purchase the connectors and pins from Digikey.com. I can send you the part numbers if you want to go that route.

    Re: SCN5 Hardware Thread

Has any1 tried to use two SCN5's per each side? What would be the correct way to connect them together and trick X-sim to controll them both identically? I'm about to order four SCN5's for my project and want to make sure it could be done.
    Thnx

    Re: SCN5 Hardware Thread

What would be the reason for that config?

As for the trick, all you need is to have the same control math for both actuators on each side...

    Re: SCN5 Hardware Thread

Simply, the reason is my weight (260 lbs) plus I want to move entire chair together with the wheel and pedals.
Do I need four usb to rs485 or I could use one per two SCN5's?
Are SCN5's talking back to converters or they just receiving data?
I've been busy on the mechanical part of my sim and did not read spec sheets on SCN5's yet.
    Thnx

    Re: SCN5 Hardware Thread

    Are You sure about this?
This is what I found on the x-sim wiki:

If you only own a single RS485 converter or USB device and like to try more than one SCN5, you are able to connect all SCN5 to the same bus system parallel. Before you do so, you have to change the device ID for each SCN5, so it will not response on a command of another SCN5. There are 16 device ID's possible to connect to one RS485 bus system. The SCN5 are delivered all with factory default values and device ID 0. This means you have to change a second SCN5 to a higher device ID number.

It looks like it could be done the way I was thinking.
I'm not sure about loosing updates as per this sentence (also from x-sim wiki):

If you use more than one SCN5 on one comport the update rate will be devided by the number of scn5 connected. So if you have one SCN5 connected and reach 150 outputs/second (normal) and you attach a second one, you only have 75 output/second left.
Is this correct assuming they operate same axis?
    Can any1 confirm that please?
    thnx

    Re: SCN5 Hardware Thread

For obvious reason, I haven't seem people using this sort of configuration.
You could try and report back.

This topic is supposed to help people convert their Frex to x-Sim, maybe you could create a topic for your own questions.

    Cheers,

    Me

Hmm.. I thought it was SCN5 general hardware thread. Did not find any info about Frex entering this.
    Sorry

    Re: SCN5 Hardware Thread

    Hello ,

Following the 38 pages and as a complete noob , I'm still really confused.

    I bought 2 of these :

    http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0413855073
    http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0370302162

    For 2 x 100mm SCN5 100mm.

I really don't have any electrical skills , I really don't understand what I should do next. I saw some soldering steps to do but those schemes aren't self-explanatory for a complete noob like me. Could anyone point me the exact steps to do or maybe a plug-n-play converter from SCN5 actuators cables to PC ?

I will also need a switch and a AC/DC converter right ? How am I supposed to connect all these things together without soldering skills :((((

    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for your help.

    Well , then if I buy this adaptor x 2 ( http://www.robotshop.ca/devantech-usb-r ... rface.html ) for my 2 SCN5 , I willl now just have to power the 2 actuators with 1 or 2 PSU right ? No more wirings or else ?

    Re: SCN5 Hardware Thread

You would still need to wire them. The wiring diagrams were also shown in the first 38 pages.

Good people, I wonder if anyone knows the name of the company that makes these actuators SCN5, that because I live in Brazil and is difficult to import from Canada to Brazil, I am grateful if someone can help me.

The actuators are made by Dyadic in Japan.

Think it works, but why do you want to spent the whole money when there are cheaper and proofed interfaces out there?
