Starting a classical 2DOF Arduino/Sabertooth/24V DC

    I tried to twist it, rotate it with no luck . So I'm good to go. No extra work then !

    Some welding occured this weekend, under 34°C sun :cool:
    The strucuture is sliding quite well (justt need to use a file to optimise, and put some grease for smoother sliding)

    Once I find the gravity center, I'll probably cut the structure tubes to have +15,-15 settings compared with my preferred driving position. This should fit most drivers (including my kids)

    All the welding as been "hardened". It is rock-solid now.

    Next step is to brainstorm on how to make the fixed chassis and the moving chassis link strong enough, but removable as I want to be able to put all this in a real car.... any ideas ?
    If I have time this weekend i'll go for a quick painting also, to prevent rust. I'll probably ask the kids to help me for that !
    Bonus: I'm working on an arduino dashboard compatible with gamedash :p

    That is a big frame and the design does not lend itself to easy transportation, particularly in a car.

    Mine has 4 bolts holding the seat to the pivot post and 2 nuts for the connecting rods. The pedal and steering post detach with two quick release screws and a nut.

    As I'm on holidays, I took some time to start assembling pedals, wheel and other stuff. Here are some pics:

    Pedals and wheel slide together.
    In addition pedals are mounted on seat rails so pedals/wheel distance can be adjusted:

    This should allow everyone to find decent settings. I'll adjust the screw length as well, and paint the wooden parts

    I'll put some grease on the non-painted part to hve a smooth slide for the different parts.
    I just have to mount the seat, then find the gravity center and start the final assembly :p

    Yep. In fact, as I found a nice gimball, the "rotules" became of no use. So I re-used some them for other purpose :D

    After some tests, I reverted the pedal sliders in opposite direction.
    I also noticed the wheel is a bit too far. It is really usable for me, but for kids it will be too far. I'll rework this later on.
    While waiting to mount the base, I can enjoy the "to be shake soon" portion of the rig :D

    I'll also have to make a decent shifter holder, but I actually enjoyed this one. I was surprised and interested to see the speed gain to not to have to go lower, closer to the seat.

    Waouh. No posts and no progress since august :blush
    I foud some time this weekend to do some drilling/welding.
    Now, the gimball is fixed, and the seat can move.

    Question now if where is the best place for the wiper ?

    Aligned with the seat mont (shoulder mount). Should I put it more vertical (but the seat light bump into the wiper motor in that case)?

    Here we go for the bi-monthly update :confused:
    First time I applied power to the structure, instead of the test bench

    Nothing broken so far, nothing blocking the full rotation.
    Next step : mount everything including driver :p apply 24V and cross fingers.
    I fear the threaded rod might bend under load. We will see ....

    hi Vthinsel. Im currently trying to sort my build out and wondered how the steel is holding up in terms of flexing. @noorbeast guided me to your post along with a couple of others for ideas on moving the pedals and wheel closer and further from the seat. after a good think today i think i am going to go down the root of the box sections sliding in and out of each other. i was going to use 50x50x4 and 40x40x4 but see you have gone really light on it. Does it flex around a lot?
