Another test of the Symdeck GT cockpit but with an ultrawide screen in the middle. Driven by my crash test dummy!

Look what I get to play with hopefully next week. I'm going to build it up to a full motion setup including our Symseat and Symbelt technology. Stay tuned!

I've managed to take it out for a spin. Next I will add motion and fans!

With a few simple mods to the seat I've added our self tensioning harness which works really well. I've also put some carpet in!

It's taken a while but it's almost ready. Our F1 tub with full 6 DOF motion and a self tensioning harness. I just need to add the speed fans. There's a full video coming soon.

Finally our F1 tub is here. We can offer it as a static or up to 6 DOF motion, a self tensioning harness, speed fans and a bass shaker. Various wheel, pedals and screen options are available and there's even a console version with full motion!

They are available in various team colours with decals to match.

To replicate sustained forces, some seat movers tip the whole seat sideways, forwards and backwards. Some, such as our previous version, use moving pads to replicate the reaction forces but these can feel like massage chairs.

Symseat 3 is different. The seat base and back slide sideways when you corner. You feel the sideways motion and you are pushed into the side of the seat giving a far more realistic feeling. When you accelerate the seat base moves backwards applying pressure on your back and when you brake it moves forwards giving the feeling of being thrown forward.

A customer who has a motion system but is looking to add to it gave me his impression of the Symseat V2 and then thankfully he came back to test V3, and he liked it!

    My Motion Simulator:
    AC motor, Motion platform
Nice:thumbs, came to the same conclusion a few years ago, all the best. FI also ran a system which was actually better, were the passenger was physically moved by Bowden cables attached to a vest, unfortunately it was a pain to setup.

    customer TL review

A customer has very kindly sent us a video review of a Symdeck TL traction loss motion platform working with his existing motion setup. He sent me the raw footage and I've edited it.

It also shows Simtools working along side some other motion software.

    s2-s3 V2

After months of planning, design and testing we are pleased to announce the production of the version 2 s2 and s3. Here's a video of the prototype setup being tested with Dirt Rally 2.

The production version will look almost identical to the original ones but the mechanism has been completely redesigned. Version 1 had rotating arms mounted axially to the motors like a wiper motor setup. This worked well but when powered off the weight would drop the arms.Version 2 has a linear motor setup but rather than being mounted vertically, they are horizontal with a cantilever turning it into vertical motion. This means they can be enclosed in the same way as version 1 rather than having to be mounted to a cockpit.

Version 2 retains our unique stability mechanism (not visible in the video) so it can only pitch and roll in a controlled manner. Without it the top would wobble about like a jelly!

Any new orders from now on will be using the new version 2

The most basic question is why choose motion over static? The one word answer is immersion, fun, sense of achievement!

You don't drive around on a magic carpet. The car is 'mostly' driven on the ground and that, along with the suspension and traction is constantly feeding you information, not just through the steering wheel.

Of course there is personal choice and available funds but adding motion to a sim creates some of the feeling of what happens in real life. The sense of immersion and achievement of driving in spite of everything that's going on makes it a great addition.

Most other motion setups seem to completely ignore the pitch and roll of the circuit concentrating instead on using pitch for accelerating and braking and roll for cornering.

You wouldn't know Eau Rouge is a hill!

Symdeck let you experience the whole circuit bringing it to life.
