Great news thanks for your experiment I have found and ordered the motor in Aus $220.00 delivered 3 weeks. I will use the new T500 my second for 2-3 months then do the upgrade.
I previously owned a V2 Fanatec would not touch with a barge pole, great when working, but to deal with amateurs for 2-3 months and wait 4-5 weeks for them to email you back no thanks returned for a full refund and what a fight.

Hello I have completed the mod every thing works but the wheel continues to go left to right no self centre what so ever just keeps going left to right on start up until I turn it off.
    Any suggestions ? thanks.

Hi Chris. First thing that comes to mind is the (wrong?) polarity. Could you upload some HQ photos of your mod?

Hi CHris, first of all I cannot understand why you have cut the wire, the existing wire/cable does the job very well. Second I hope you did not damage the little board stuck on the motor, there are some diodes / transistors which can be damaged easily. Thirdly are you sure about the polarity after replacing the wire to the motors? Last but hopefully least the DY-01E340369 mini board stuck at the back of the motor has to be turned by 180° and IMO you forgot to ground one of the screws of the motors as shown on the second picture.

I would go so far as to say it is worth doing even buying a new T500RS to do if you are thinking about the Fanatec V2 and putting the new 85 watt motor In straight away even better a second hand one.
I have tried all the lower priced and medium ones this mod takes it way above the AU$1850.00 Fanatec V2.
It just has more feel as you explained in your post and it never loses power like the 65 watt one (original).
    Thanks again.

Out of curiosity, why would you want more gain? The T500RS already has way too much gain.. I'm running the main cpa settings at 60% overall strength.. And in game I even lower the ffb gains down to 40%.

T500 rs has just enough torque to emulate the forces of power steering wheels. When it comes to emulate the forces of unassisted steering wheels it definately has a hard time keeping up. When the t500 rs base is fitted with an aftermarket 30cm+ sterring wheel, this "issue" becomes more evident.

Now, when the t500rs wheel is fitted on a high power and fidelity motion platform its power cant keep up with the forces of the platform... and gives a weak and filtered end result.

anyone who doesnt know how underpowered a t500 is has never used a OSW Direct Drive. My custom OSW stomps a t500rs. Makes it feel like the toy that it is.
