    Hi Everyone,
This is my first post though I have been a regular visitor for the past year. I have successfully built Thanos' AMC1.5 DsMhb1.2 and installed it, using WW motors for 2 axes. Today, I am on the very last smalll stage! I am using Thanos' latest firmware at 18.432 MHz and Ian's BFF Driver.

My thanks to all of you for invaluable tips and suggestions, and even questions----but most of all to Thanos himself for a brilliant development, and tons of advice given both here and to me personally without which none of this would have been possible.

When I learn how to, I'll post some pics, hopefully in the right place.

    Regards,

    Erich.

    Hi,
Today, I am on the very last small stage of my motion sim! I just said this in my mail above.

Grateful to hear from anyone who has successfully installed Thanos' latest firmware which has that has the Kp adjustable via the Hyper Terminal. I am unable to get the Welcome screen after following the 6 steps in his PDF. Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Erich.....

    Hi Erich, Welcome!

Sorry for ignoring your email you sent some days before, I wasn't able to answer back to none of the decades emails I received recently... really busy!!!

    Some quick tips:

-Did you connected a cable between the TX connectors also? The hyperterminal configuration method requires bi-directional communications!
-Also don't forget to set speed to 115200 and the Flow Control to None in the connection settings!!!!

Also don't run in same time, other programs that may using the serial port, like the BFF driver, Ponyprog, etc...

And something else: Although Ian's BFF driver is awesome in terms of washout programming for flight sims, I'd recommend to also try x-sim software for car/bike/flight simulators! As you told me you planning to have the controls in modular so you can swap easily between simulator types. X-sim supports many awesome car racing simulators!!! Since you are using AMC, no changes are needed in hardware side to switch at any time to x-sim!

    Regards, Thanos

    Hi Thanos
Great to hear from you. Glad also things are calm!

Have done all the things you say, although have to change the 100nF near the crystal you recommended to faller earlier. Actually cannot see how the AVR.ht file you sent with the firmware 'connects' with the HT. Will change cap and try again.

Wonderful that X-Sim now has a Driver for flight. More claps!!

    Thanks,

    Erich........

    Hi Christian,
Thanks for the Welcome to such an august company. I'm learning already---I know where to post Erich's FlightSim In Pics now!! Don't know much about uploading, etc. I have a lot to learn.

You can run it by double clicking it... Or you can just open the Hyperterminal and create a new connection by yourself! Just fill in the settings below:

-Name: Name it anything you like, I named it AVR to distinguish it from other hyperterminal files I have.
-Connection settings: Enter the COM port you are using, Set the speed to 115200, and Flow control to NONE.

Done... save the file if you like to have it handy later.

    Hi Thanos,
Tried all the above without success. DIP Sw.at 2, 5 jumpers fitted, cable in programming port and the data port. One thing is left, the AVR file is corrupt- didn't go there yet.

Yesterday there was some doubt that the COM port was defective as I was having some issues with the Driver. However, I got Ian's 092 Beta to work consistently finally so a defective port seems ruled out. Have you, by the way, tried his latest Driver? I'm asking to find out what you might have selected, HEX, HEX2 or MEM. The 0_9_2 seems to work only with MEM.

By the way. Hopefully a small improvement to AMC. I touched the regulator, and as you pointed out, its really hot. Just added a 30X50X2mm thick 'L' plate under the existing heatsink, with heatsink compound and bolted the lot together. It gets barely warm now even with the LCD backlight on. I'll attach a pic later.

    Regards,
    Erich..........

    Ok, here we go:

    1. You must set the DIP switch #2 to ON position.
    2. The five programming jumper cables should be removed while normal use or hyperterminal KP setting. But leave the three small jumpers just below the ISP programming bridge in place or else the DIP switches will not work as expected!.
    3. With the LCD connected you should see a message on it informing you that the AMC entered in hyperterminal KP setting mode...

    4. About Ian's BFF driver, my AMC works with all versions, even the latest 1.6.5 that its on his site right now. I tested it right after it was released about a week before. I don't setup the BFF driver as HEX or HEX2 or MEM... I set it as BIN mode with speed 115200 !!!

    5. Thanks for the regulator cooler tip. It can be handy for those that want to have their LCD with backlight ON!!!. With backlight off it wont even get warm!!

    Hi Thanos,
Thanks! Driver now seems perfect using 115200/BIN.

However while the LCD indicates its in Kp mode, TIP Use Terminal--after configuring HT just a blank screen appears.

    A little tip:

If you cannot see the HT welcome screen from the AMC, it does not harm to reset the AMC while its connected to the HT.

I usually set the connection first and then power on or reset the AMC to see the configuration screen...

    Hi Thanos,
Followed carefully all your steps many times. They are quite straightforward. Reprogrammed the chip again even but at same freq., 18.432MHz. Works perfectly---only can't change Kp part via the HT. Tried also on another computer with same result. Thought of going to 14.31818 (as I was unstable at 22.1184) but that's only late tomorrow as I don't have the crystal. To see whether a change of the firmware might help? Or could it be a Windows (XPSP2) issue?

You had earlier made PWMBETA002/003 with LCD, firmware. There was no mention of the Kp however. I could revert to a file with larger, 4-8Kp, say, if available.

    Regards, Erich.......

EDIT. Later in the day reprogrammed with the 22.1184MHz Xtal and this time it works fine, except being unable to change the Kp as the HT screen with text does not appear. So only the Kp changing problem still remains.

    Hi Thanos,
You owe me a huge clump on the side of the head, and I owe you a huge apology!

I asked Ego too, (since he had said something about PuTTY), whether he was successful and he said, no problem, he was able to change the Kp with Hyperterminal itself! Also, he set me on a different thinking track to do with the AMC board itself, soldering, connections, etc.

Connections!!! I finally got around to----mainly the 2 Rx-Tx 3 wire Molex cables. Did a routine continuity check, crimping, etc.---OK. In one set however, the PIN1 AND PIN3 WIRES HAD BEEN ASSEMBLED CROSSED!!!!!!!!! These were common items purchased off the shelf--probably just assembled by my regular electronics shop. BIG lesson here!

Immediately able to change Kp, everything working exactly as you said-----boy am I relieved!! And I'm SO SORRY!!!!!

The last hurdle that has kept me away from motion is now out of the way!!!! Thanks to both of you!!

    Regards, Erich...........

    Hi Mila,
did you measured the outcoming voltage. How much is it?. What happened with the voltage (measure it) if you turn the pots left or right to its end position?.
I`m using a 12V Car Battery. Which source are you using? and do you use a fuse (+12V wiring)?.
Are you sure that the mosfets are still OK?. Ckeck them with a multimeter, Checking Mosfet.
For example, i have burned my mosfet with my selfmade Power Supply  , now i`m using a car battery.
