I am lucky enough to have a 1500sq foot cabinet shop that I can use for my own projects when I do not have a pesky customer cluttering up the place ;)

And the commute is not too bad, it is across the driveway from my house, lol.

And of course I am especially lucky to have such a supportive wife (even if she does shake her head in perplexity when I tell her what I am going to build next).

In the long run, I do wish I had to ask a lady whether I could build one;) I have my fingers crossed that I may one day find a lady who is interested in Sims!!! I may have to start a new thread about this:)

You do not have to find one that is interested in Sims, just one that is tolerant of your interest in Sims ;)

very true:) wise man. But secretly it would be pretty awesome to come home and my lady friend has sketched up some Arduino code, or go shopping and bring home a new steering wheel;)

ya dreaming mate. Mine has said on many occasions " You should have married that wheel instead of me, your hands spend more time on it than me."
Oh well its a balancing game, lol.

Ferslash, you might try the Teensy++2.0 board instead. It is a native HID complaint controller. 12 analog inputs and 40(ish) DX button inputs. Or you can program it to be pretty much anything you want it to be.

Cheaper than an Arduino as well. I have used more than a dozen of them to create custom gaming devices.

The Arduino code to make the Teensy++2.0 into a joystick. The credit for this goes to Tripod of the Hornetpits.org forum.

I have a couple of other projects taking up my time at moment plus I just use my g27 for now but im looking forward to building a wheel later on down the track. but the teensy++2.0 board looks like it could be a great little board! Cheers Historiker for that.

You can edit that ardiuno sketch to add two more joystick axis. But make sure you edit it for the exact number that you will have connected or you will get errors when using the axis (it will look for those "ghost" axis).

Sorry for getting this thread off topic. Perhaps we should start a "Teensy++2.0" thread?

thanks for the intel historiker:) im all good with the post. I totally forgot that I also have a jc32 usb from symprojects. I think I have seen axis controls in the config setup? I wish I was an octopus!! id be able to get all of my projects done!! I have this funny sence that the Arduino will be a good platform for a steering wheel;)

It might, but isn't the Arduino analog 8 bit? Meaning they will have 255 positions over the travel of the pot where the Teensy is 10bit and gives you 1024 positions over the travel of the same pot.

Yeah but look at my name Historiker:) it kinda fits me better:) I thought the teensy++2.0 and 3.0 are 8bits and ++4.0 is 12 or 16? I could be wrong though..

I did not know they had ever produced a Teensy 4?

The AVR processor is 8 bit but it has a 10bit analog to digital convert (ADC). .To be honest I have not real idea what that means, lol. I do know that the analog inputs are 10 bit because when I calibrate my axis they register as 1024 steps.
