Been a while now... time to update this post with a few photos now that my rig is functional :)

The pics are a little dark since I'm playing (sorry, racing! :grin) in my home cinema, which allows me to have something very close to the real scale of a car in front of me (the screen is 3.50m large)

    The last adds-on:
*a harness, a must have. Makes you feel every small move of the seat and gives super realistic sensations on braking
*a dashboard behind the wheel. This way I can set the driver position in Assetto Corsa exactly as it should be and hide the on-screen dash with my own wheel and dash. Perfect!

I hope you'll like it, at least I do! :) Next challenge: a DIY shifter.

Update: homemade shifter (7gears + rear), using xbox360 controller for the electronic part:

I'll post detailed pictures if someone is interested by the mechanical part.

I need to go take some more photos then :) Will do today.

Here is how everything started :)

In order to lock the shifter in a gear or in neutral, the main shaft is a tube in which I placed a ball pushed by a spring against a piece of teflon that contains 3 holes (1 hole for gears 1,3,5 & 7, 1 hole for neutral and 1 hole for gears 2,4,6 & rear). It's maybe easier to understand with some photos:

The teflon is from a cheap board you can find in your kitchen and you usually use to slice vegetables

Here is the main shaft in which I placed the ball:

    more photos to come...

I'm wondering now if I don't have short circuits through the wood... I've heard stories like that but usually it's with "wet" wood.

@SeatTime , I have tested all four MMs individually, each output separately and under load (actually with the motors from the rig plugged on the MM, with limitation of Pmax at 120). I had a good 12V on each output. I previously had some faulty MM from china and the motor would not even turn one direction :/

Ok sounds good, do your motors get hot?

The motors got hot after almost two hours of driving, not burning though I could leave my hand on them.
When the MM burned, the motors were still cold.

Once again picky - but I would like to see a airflow path in your driver box. From what I can see in the picture the air is being sucked in from the top and then has nowhere to go...apart from being maybe re-circulated:think.

So far it's working well until it burns :D I've made a video yesterday but it's really dark in that room so we can't see much (excuse the driving, my friend who is driving isn't familiar with Assetto Corsa, the car, the track...etc):

your motor is 24V DC or 12v DC?

You are definitely right, on the second part of the box (after I added to MMs) there isn't much for hot air to be extracted. The first part of the box has many holes on the side. I will run it with the electronic box fully open next time and arrange that part.

Sorry, but I really have low lighting in that room (dedicated HC)... You got a good point there, it could be that the thermal paste is slightly getting out after some use and create short circuits. I'll definitely put less next time and just in the middle of the chip.
