can you clarify what you mean by not usable for dirt and other violent games?
i assume it means that there the motion compensation doesnt cope with fast movement
and this still happens when you turn off the buttkicker?

Yes, i really don't understand how this can be solved other then dailing the motion down and turning the buttkickers off. Maybe a gimbal would work, but thats to much a hassle.
If i fly in small planes or in elite with a lot of motion i turn the lighthouse tracking off and use the 3dof.

I got Valve Index (to replace oculus rift) and got motion compensation working (for my racingcube) but is it normal that there is a slight delay on Picture when using it? I never get motion sickness but now I get and I think it´s because this slight delay. You can see it when you move your head fast when compensation is on. Everything you see follows your head movement a little (compared to motion compensation disabled everything stays put). Is there something I can do to fix this?

Weird I just went from a CV1 to Index as well, yet to try any motion cancellation but I have noticed this as well with my Index that there is a slight delay when moving my head around fast, never really looked into what might be causing it though.

If the delayed image is happening specifically in iRacing, there's a discussion about it in their VR forums (subscription required).

I’m not noticing that much delay without motion compensation but when I turn it on it is really noticable. I don’t even need to have any game running but delay happends on steam VR loading screen (lines and mountains) too. Anyone else having this?

Hey mates! Is there someone here who can make a small youtube video about installing the motion cancellation software and the needed fix files? I'm to stupid for that. I try it and try it. Always i broke my steam vr drivers (start in save mode).

Update: now i understand how to install....the fixed files have to stay in the 00input_emulator folder INSTEAD the original files. oh man. :D

Delay went down really much when I chose "Use reference tracker" instead of "set zero". Now delay does not change from "no motion compensation" setting. BUT now I am experiencing sudden jumps out of the car and in the sky (maybe 8meters above car). Is there fix for this? I am running out of time to return Index and motion compensation was only thing I bought it for so really appriciate quick answers. I have my base stations up in the corners of my play area (so not like JMD suggested, other above my simulator) because I play other games too that require base stations in corners. Is that placing answer for this problem or some other problem?

The jumps sound like they may be a tracking issues. Are there any reflective surfaces on the rig or in the room?

I had a problem with my Index tracking, which I thought was my Vive tracker, I fixed the problem by reinstalling both Steam and SteamVR. Steam being the biggest pain.
I do get a very small delay when moving my head quickly, but it is very slight.

    Thanks for replys :)

Noorbeast, not that much and I tried to cover or remove them all (little window, clock, monitor, couple of winebottles but no luck. Here are pictures from my (messy) room If you can find some more reflective surfaces.

Kparkin, I installed them again yesterday and will try or out today.

Denus340, you have noticed guide on page 22? It’s for Vive but worked with Index too. But I think both need the fix files to be installed. I’ll link them when I found them. I think oculus no longer works with motion compensation. Please correct me If I am wrong.

What is that at the back of the room between the two huge speakers? Is that a glass window. Maybe cover everything up with canvas around the motion simulator for troubleshooting. Some people solve tracking problem reducing to 1 basestation. Doesnt make sense but i read it in some forums. Edit : i think it was the pimaxvr forum, so not sure if that would work with index. I cant see your lighting, but if its fluorescent that has some frequency it may mess up the tracking too (https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/azu8p1/steamvr_20_tracking_fluorescent_lights/)
If it happens only when there is sudden sharp move, could also be the problem similar with what everyone is facing with buttkicker -the gyro in the index messing up.

It’s just metal rack for mesh baskets. Tried loosing one basestation but got more problems on short test. Seat started to move around. It is fluorecent tube. I tried to switch it off and drove in dark but jumps still happends. It seems it’s every time on long fast corner and no sudden sharp moves. I need to try to figure out some canvas and way to put it around simulator.

happening specifically at long bends is a real mystery there. If you could get more specific, left or right bends? I have no idea where this is heading but maybe the others can put their heads together.

I think it has happend in both directions but mostly turning right (most fast corners of this track turn right). I just set up second base station above the simulator and will try that. Is it better to use seated or roomscale option with this setup?

Just sharing my exp. with Valve Index (2x Lighthouse 2.0 Stations and 2x Index Controller: Tracking is just super! No tracking loose even when Stations are not seeing each other. Even if line of sight is blocked to BOTH Stations for about 5 sec. no problem. Motion Cancelling works like a charme, violent movements, violent Vibrations (Butkicker 400W sinus) don´t matter. Bare Metall plates or backlight dosn´t matter. No Delay at all.

    EDIT:
Only one issue is left: When tracking to the Index HMD is lost to both Lighthouse Station for some time (icon fades little out and in) then the calibration from OpenVR motion cancelling Software is lost (axis movement result in wrong motion compensation). After restart Steam VR everything is fine again. But tracking lost to the Index Controller (responsible for motion compensation) doesn't seem to matter at all.
