I am pretty sure that this software is licensed, and we dont want to use software for which we dont own a proper license.
Besides that, we wont need it anyway.

    Hey, Ego.

I know it is funnier to build it, but would these adapters work?
    Two of them, actually?

    http://ekmmetering.com/EKM_Metering/Con ... pters.html

Would x-sim work with them as well?

    Thanks.

No, I dont think they will work.

The readme of its driver says:

And we need the possibility to assign names, to differ between left and right actuator.

But it would work for Chris J I think.

4 donators more would reduce the individual donation to 30$ instead of 40$. :clapgirl:

    Hum... Interesting...
I have already had two identical USB devices, with same name on Windows Devices List, but that would be seem separately inside the games (just to name it, ECCI USB Controller).

I do see that changing the USB port will change the config.

Then, my question is... Will we be able to configure x-Sim to tell him which is the left and right actuator controller?

    Cheers,

    Erick

Ok, I know I’m getting ahead of myself with this one. But I think we should have a solution that will enable us to add more DOF’s in the future. For example, a simple platform could be built to add YAW to any SimForceGT platform.

    Anyway, it’s just a thought.

Cool Buddy... But, would any SCN5 be able to deal with the weight of such rig?

i love the idea of having yaw in the simulator, that would add a lot to it imo. definitely something i'm interested in

Should work if you mount it on ball bearings or ? So the weight is not that much, it has just to pull and push

I still believe that the best solution is FTDI.

Just take a look on the next document and you will see why I insist! 8)

    FT232R_USB_to_RS485.pdf

This is a design directly from FTDI!!!!!!!! :yippiee:

And I can't believe that some companies took advantage if it to sell it so expensive (148Euro????):
    http://www.wut.de/e-38211-ww-daus-000.php

We can make such ones, for less than 20 euro!!!! :mug1:

Great find tronicgr, Looks like it will be pretty simple to build too.
Will we have a jumper or dip-8 to select the actuator number?

Wow! That is amazing... I didn't know x-sim was so powerful, full of possible configurations!

I will download it to start getting familiarized, it seems I will use it for a long time... :)

    Thanks noname!

It is not so simple, it is huge mass to move around, accelerating and braking will be hard on the 10Kgf actuator, we are talking about 150-200Kg here... :(

No, we can just reprogram the FT232R's VID and PID numbers!!! Sirnoname can define some default values for use in the x-sim and then we use them on our FTDI FT232R's to make them automatically recognizable from the x-sim software as devices and as seperate axis!!

I just received my FT232R evaluation board and will try it as soon as I can. It a pity (from a point of view) that I'm having my summer vacations starting tomorrow, isolated in a Greek island away from electronics, computers and internet!!

I also found on my local electronics supplier the ADM485 chip for 2euro (same as MAX485).

And if you combine it with the Breakout Board for FT232RL USB to Serial 9.50euro on the sparkfun site: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... cts_id=718

And a small PCB and connectors... we can make this for less than 15euro...
And we will have the advantage of custom VID/PID over it in the end.

Sorry if I bug you all the time about it, but if we are to make it, we should do it right!
