Hello, hello everyone, I discovered your site after research to create a 2Dof for fs2020.

Basically well equipped, saitek almost complete, FIP, throttle (2), ruddle, yoke, hotas x52, quest 2 headset and the PC that goes with it. It is thanks to a Roman design and its cockpit that I am embarking on this project this year!

Hello, I am Jörn from Hanau / Germany.

I have a SFX 100 System and what to build an 6 DOF System.

My skills are mechanical engineering and building machines.

I have absolutely no skills of software.

So I what rebuild a system (from steel with welding is fine) and copy the software with all adjustments I need to use it as a race simulation for cardriving and maybe fly simulation. My English is so bad like my software skills, sorry for that.

    Best regards Jörn.

    Welcome @John Doe 77.

Any 6DOF is an ambitious project. So doing some research before getting in too deep is time well spent.

Bounce your plans and shopping list off members before jumping down what can be an expensive rabbit hole, if you get it wrong.

Use the Enhanced Google Search on the Recent page to find the latest member 6DOF projects, as there have been many refinements to how members build 6DOF rigs.

You will also find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs, including a section on 6DOF rigs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

    Hey guys!
Like almost everyone here, I found this forum in my search for information on how to build my DIY 3DOF sim (for running and flying). This seems to be the most complete forum on the Net, with a great exchange of knowledge between its members. I hope to learn and, hopefully, be able to share some information.
I'm from Brazil and a simulation enthusiast!
I'm starting my journey with my 3DOF based on several examples I saw here.
Like many, I struggle with choosing an motor that works for my project. My question is that of many: Would a good torque (50 NM), but with a low RPM of 30 and a power of 60 Watts, solve a basic setup??
I will continue researching and testing.
    Greetings!:cheers

    Welcome @Luis Claudio Basto.

Many of us were similarly driven by such enthusiasm, drawing inspiration from the many awesome DIY member projects here, with members freely giving of their time and expertise to translate our dreams into reality.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs to get you started: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

The FAQs have a Design section: https://xsimulator.net/community/faq/design-considerations-resources.24/category

Which includes tools like SimCalc (2DOF), which will help get your head around the tradeoff in design Vs physics. Motor choice is intimately linked to design and desired performance.

    Hello Sim Builders,

I'm building a 3dof system for a sim project, I've built them before for commercial installations using off the shelf platforms but am looking to build something custom.

I'm a fabricator, am lucky enough to have my own CNC and metalworking setup, but am new to the world of SimTools. Hoping to get a test platform running in the next few weeks (Months?) so may be popping up with questions in the near future.

If anyone needs any help with mechanical problems, fabricating or similar please get in touch!

    Many thanks in advance,

    Nick

    Hi,

i´m Kevin from Germany and have been reading here for a while. I have been practicing sim racing for about 8 years now. Started with a simple frame made of Bosch profiles and Thrustmaster components, now Fanatec components and some self-designed aluminum brackets and 3d printed parts. All in conjunction with GT7 or ACC on the console. I'm too stingy for PC and IRacing.

A consideration for a MotionSetup and some reading in has now become a 6DOF SetUp and the first components are already on their way or have already arrived.
As I either didn't like all the ready-made systems or they were too expensive, I have now started to design a complete new system out of profiles, and the 3D printer is already running busily. I will create a thread for this as soon as I have all the components here.

Hi Jörn, living only 100km away.

    Hello, guys.

My name is Jefferson, but my friends call me Jeff. I have a background in Computer Science and I am familiar with programming languages such as C, Java, and Python. Additionally, I have some knowledge of electronics, although I am still learning. I am also an enthusiast of aviation and hold a private pilot license in my country. I have been a virtual pilot of Microsoft Flight Simulator for several years, so I have a reasonable understanding of that software.

My intention is to construct a 6DOF motion simulator, which is a challenge in both my personal and professional life. I hope to find people willing to help me, and at the same time, I aim to share useful information with you. I understand that building a 6DOF motion simulator is not easy, but one of my characteristics is persistence and discipline in problem-solving

    Thank You

    Hello everyone

I am Bruno From Haute-Savoie- France. I've been doing aerial simulation for 40 years, and yes I'm starting to get old :grin. I have also been a 3-axis ULM pilot for 11 years. I joined you because, being soon to retire (a few months) and for fear of being bored, I decided to build a 3 DOF SIM to introduce the simulation to friends and disabled pilots.
I initially went with a 4-cylinder PT80 system and a little later I would switch to a 6-cylinder system (I think this will be more realistic).
I think I would definitely need your advice to finalize this first project. :D
Thank you for your welcome and have a good day everyone.
    Bruno

    Hello everyone,
    My name is Michael,
I have just passed my microlight certification and I am starting to build a simulator at home to work on my training on flight simulator 2020.
I installed smc3 with an arduino uno card and I am thinking of making a 2dof simulator with 2 MEG. At the moment I am in the testing phase of the electronic part. I manage to activate the motor with smc3. I downloaded the demo version of simtools and I configured the interface setting but when I do the tests on output testing the engine does not move. Is this because I'm only in the demo version?
    thank you for this forum!
    Have a good day
