    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF, Arduino
Hello! Let me introduce myself, I am new here, I discovered 2DOF simulators a long time ago and I always wanted to have one and a couple of days ago I acquired a base that they used for flight simulators to which I have adapted my driving simulator.

This base is homemade and has the following parts:

    2x 24v motor
    arduino uno
    "mode2" arduino relays

Yesterday I bought the key because the structural assembly was finished and I wanted to start feeling the g forces.

The person I bought it from told me to use SimTools 3, that I could use the previous version but the new one was simpler and contained the same features. The truth is that configuring everything was quite easy, I bought the key and approximately on average hour everything was configured and tested.

At the moment I have tested assetto corsa and eurotruck simulator 2 satisfactorily and I am very happy with the result

Yes, I have to say that I have doubts about how to make beamng.drive work correctly because the protocol parameters are udp 127.0.0.1 and port 4123, the game recognizes the movement platform, but it does not move and only vibrates either while driving with the vehicle or while stopped or even in the menu... for that part I would like to know if this problem can be solved in this post or if it is necessary for me to create a new post or comment on it in the beamng plugin post

That said, I attach an image of my beast, greetings to all the bone shakers

Software Architect but hobbyist machinist & embedded engineer inside trying to break out!.

Built my first CNC circa 2000 square tube & angle ( Extruded 2020 ect was not yet available )
Built my first 3d printer using M8 all thread and 8mm bearings (early REP-RAP design).
Machines : ( all machines are rescued ) Bench Top Mill Converted to CNC, Mill-Drill, Medium Mill, Bench-top Lathe (250Swing), Surface grinder, 40W CO2 laser, 3 3d printers (1 resin).

Current Project: 800x800 CNC Router, 2.2kw spindle, 160x80 extrusion.

Next Project: [x]DOF sim chassis -
    - need to do more research on PROs & CONs for fewer Actuators.- Any guidelines appreciated
    - looking at building linear actuators using AC Servo Motors I found on ebay. -
    - Any engineering rule-of-thumb design standards out there ? i.e. What stops the assembly bending at full extension ?

    Hi,
my name is Michele, write from italy.
I'm planning to build a 3dof simulator. But I've a my personal idea on it.
Usually, the motion sim are build to simulate the gforce.
Instead, my first score is to simulate mainly the movements of the car (roll, dive, heave), not the g forces.

Actually I don't know if is even possible, so I'm searching for ideas.
I plan to build a "mini" rig, using RC servos, to test software before to start the real scale stuff. I already see a user of this community has done a similar build.

    See later...
    Michele

Welcome @angor to our community of very creative and skilled members, who freely give of their time and expertise.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs to get you started: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

In particular check out the Design section, which includes links to code and instructions for creating a RC servo powered model to test your ideas: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/build-a-working-model-to-test-your-design-ideas.216/

The reality is that the primary purpose of a motion simulator is not to accurately recreate G forces, as that is just not possible, but rather to create accurate cues that trick your senses and brain into accepting something as real that you know is not.

    Hi all,

my name is Paolo, I live in Italy and I have just found out that using a visor is just not viable without some form of motion simulation. Maybe that will not be enough anyway, but I want to try and I want to build my own rig! I hope I can find all information and help here!

Keep in mind that when it comes to using VR and motion simulation the speed and accuracy of motion matter more that a large axis range.

    Good luck with your project

Hi Guys Gals, my name is Aaron nic name Watto and location is top end Australia. Just starting my home build collecting all the items and reading which way to go with all the various options and firmwares.
Plans so far are DIY 3 motor 24v Arduino platform, DIY hoverboard wheel with Makerbase Odrive and onboard encoder, DIY pedals TPS and load cell
About me, I have plenty of work experience with vehicle ECU and sensors and mechanical systems and a very small tinkering with Arduino's and sensors generally in desperation to bypass a vehicle issue
Next to no experience with PC's and gaming other than lots of late night GT3 on PS3 back in the day
May come up with some strange ways around sensors on my journey if it helps anyone else just ask

    Hey gents,

I'm Greg. I currently building my motion rig so this site has been helpful for months of planning. I just recently sold my 3dof simulator to build a smaller footprint unit and this weekend I start ordering parts. Will be on the hunt for new base, pedals, and pretty much everything.

I'm a tinkerer and master electrician/contractor by trade full time, and very capable of pretty much anything besides coding/programming/PC. Looking forward to learning more to make better use of my time!

I also own a 1600hp 1994 toyota supra and huge car guy. Why I love the sim.

Randomly searching FB I picked up a GS-4 seat for 50 bucks! One thing down and hoping I can get some help when needed from the community.

    Thanks ya'll!

hey!! Im Jeremy from Socal. I have been simming forever and finally am going to take the jump and build a motion rig! This site looks amazing, and sooooo much info. I do have an electronics backgound and have build a few cnc machines and many 3d printers from scratch so i am familiar with motion. my plan from what I have seen is that a 3dof will be my best bet for a decent flight rig that wont break the budget . thanks and can't wait for the journey to begin.

    Hi folks,

I am an owner of a rather new (prototype) IMG_1211.JPEG 6OF motion sim for racing. Since discovering sim racing in December, I've built 4 rigs, with the motion sim being the most recent. After a lot of tweaking and testing, things appear to work except for my SimTools v3 Beta disconnects from the rig for no apparent reason and I was hoping to come here and see if I might find some answers. I live in Denver, CO.

    Welcome @Andre Durand.

Hopefully our collective community can help get your new rig sorted, and I see you have posted to the SimTools v3 Beta thread, with Norton being the key culprit messing with SimTools.

Please do start a new thread and detail your journey, as it is is valuable to anyone who follows in your footsteps: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/commercial-simulators-and-peripherie.52/

I am looking forward to following your motion sim adventure on your thread, once created :thumbs
